FAQ

Why do I see only 10 questions when I open a file?

The application is running as a trial version. Activate it (see License and Activation) and the file will open in full. Do not save such a file in the trial version — the extra questions will be lost.

The application says the file was created in a newer version

The file was saved in a newer version of ProfExam Creator. Accept the offer to download the update and install it.

A file won't open: "The file is corrupted and cannot be opened"

The file is damaged. Try a copy of the file from another place (a backup, email, cloud storage). If a file opens only partially, the application reports how many questions could not be read.

How do I move questions from one test to another?

There are two ways:

  • open the source test, copy a question (right-click → Copy), open the target test and paste it (right-click a question set or question → Paste);
  • in the target test, choose File → Add Questions from File... and select the source test — all its questions are added.

How do I split a large test into several files?

Right-click an exam or question set → Save As.... The selected part is saved to a separate file.

Question numbers are out of order

Right-click the exam or question set → Renumber Questions.

A question is highlighted in color in the tree

The question is incomplete: for example, no correct answer is marked or there are no answer options. Open the question and check it.

Text import didn't recognize everything

  • Check that questions start with a marker like QUESTION 1, options start with A., B., and the correct answer follows Answer:.
  • If your text uses other markers (for example, "Task 1"), add your own rule on the Rules panel (see Recognition rules).
  • For PDF, try the other reading method: Quick Version or Standard Version.
  • You can let the AI chat do the transfer: attach the file and ask it to transfer the questions.

The file is too large

Most likely the test has many large images. Open Document → All Images... (Ctrl+Alt+F), find the large images and shrink them with the context menu → Resize Image.

The Microsoft Edge WebView2 component is required. Install it (the application offers a link) and restart ProfExam Creator.

The AI chat doesn't respond

  • Check the connection: open the chat settings and click Check connection.
  • Check that your API key is valid and that your provider account has funds.
  • For Ollama, make sure Ollama is running and the model is downloaded.

How do I report a bug or suggest an improvement?

Help → Feedback... — choose the message type (Bug Report, Suggestions, Like, Dislike), describe the issue in as much detail as possible and click Send. The email is optional, but with it we can reply to you.
