Activating and Deactivating ProfExam
The activation and deactivation process works the same way in both ProfExam Creator and ProfExam Simulator. The only difference is how you open the “License Information” window.
Opening the License Information Window
In ProfExam Creator:
- Open the “Help” menu.
- Select “License Information.”
In ProfExam Simulator:
- Click the “License Information” button in the upper-right corner of the application window.
- It is the second button shown in the toolbar.
The “License Information” window displays:
- The license owner’s name and email address
- The license expiration date
- The option to deactivate the application on the current device
Activating the Application
To activate either ProfExam Creator or ProfExam Simulator, you need an internet connection, a license key, and the email address used to purchase the license.
- Open the application’s activation window.
- Enter the email address used when purchasing the license.
- Enter your license key in the following format:
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. - Click “Activate.”
- Wait while the license is verified.
After successful activation, the “License Information” window will display the license owner’s details and expiration date. You do not need to restart the application.
Important: Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the email address or license key. Each license may have a limit on the number of devices that can be activated at the same time.
Incorrect Email Address or License Key
If the application reports that the license key could not be found:
- Check that the email address was entered correctly.
- Make sure you are using the same email address that was provided when purchasing the license.
- Check the license key for typing errors.
- Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after either value.
- Try activating the application again.
The email address and license key are verified together. A valid license key will not be accepted if it is entered with a different email address.
If you have lost your license key, use the License Key Recovery page.
Activation Limit Reached
The number of devices on which a license can be used simultaneously is determined by the terms of the purchased license.
If the activation limit has been reached, the application will automatically open the “Activations” window. It displays the devices on which the license key has previously been activated, including:
- Activation date
- Computer name
- Application version
To free up an activation:
- Find a computer on which the application is no longer being used.
- Select the corresponding entry. You can select multiple entries if necessary.
- Click “Deactivate.”
- Wait for the selected activations to be removed.
- Close the “Activations” window.
- Try activating the application again.
Do not remove an activation for a device on which the application is still in use. The license may stop working on that computer the next time its activation status is checked.
License Key for an Earlier Application Version
A license key may support only a specific major version of the application. For example, a license key for version 8 cannot be used to activate version 10 unless the license has been upgraded.
To upgrade your license:
- Go to the license purchase and upgrade page.
- Select the appropriate license upgrade for the required application version.
- Complete the upgrade.
- Try activating the application again using the email address associated with the purchase and the corresponding license key.
If you believe your license has already been upgraded, verify the email address and license key or contact customer support.
Note: The application may display the “Your subscription has expired” message when a license upgrade is required. If you are trying to activate version 10 with a license key for version 8, this message means that the license does not support the installed version and must be upgraded.
Deactivating the Application on the Current Computer
The deactivation process is identical in ProfExam Creator and ProfExam Simulator.
Deactivate the application before replacing your computer, reinstalling Windows, or transferring the license to another device.
-
Open the “License Information” window:
- In ProfExam Creator, select “Help” → “License Information.”
- In ProfExam Simulator, click the “License Information” button in the upper-right corner. It is the second button in the toolbar.
-
In the “Deactivation” section, click “Deactivate.”
-
Confirm the action.
-
Wait for the operation to complete.
After deactivation, some application features will no longer be available on that computer, and the activation slot will be released. You can activate the application again later on the same or another device, provided that your license limit allows it.
An internet connection is required to deactivate the application.
